Welcome to the Home page for the Province of Golden Rivers! The Province encompasses a large portion of the Sacramento, CA area and has been a thriving group in the Kingdom of the West since the beginnings of the S.C.A.!
There are a lot of things going on in our Province! We have weekly fighter practice/ gather in Carmichael Park (5750 Grant Ave, Carmichael CA 95608), on Wednesdays starting around 6:30 and going until late. At these gatherings, you can watch our fighters practice and learn more about the art, see dancers having fun and perhaps join in, get information from our chatelaine (our “welcome wagon”), socialize with folks and get to know them, and much more. Our monthly Province business meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the same park, weather permitting. There is also a monthly Equestrian practice details can be found under classes.
In this site, you’ll find information on local events, as well as events throughout the Kingdom of the West . You can find out who the local officers are and what their jobs are. You can find links to help you get started on garb, finding a name/device, cooking a period dish, and more. Keep posted for updates!
Ducal Prize Tourney
West & KHTI (Woodland, CA)
Ducal Prize is an event jointly sponsored by the West Kingdom and KHTI, with the profits to go toward the
purchase of a permanent tourney site for the West Kingdom. Since this is a jointly sponsored event be prepared to sign an event-specific waiver. Some of the competitions already on the schedule include mass weapon and buckler list, sword and shield list, superhero and cat's cradle melees, pike list, bastard sword list. There will also be hobby horse races for both kids and adults, the bucket brigade, and various rapier activities as well. This year we will also have a siege cooking contest, cordial contest, cheesecake competition.
The theme for the bardic competitions is animal filk(filk a song that the recording artist name has a type of animal in it.) Other bardic competitions include pick a heraldic color and write a song on site, and silly love
songs. Friday night will feature the Special Request Bardic, beginning after dinner. Saturday and Sunday will be full of competitions, auctions and the world famous Ducal Garage Sale. Monday will wrap up with Monday Morning Wrestling and tear down.
As always we need stuff -- your stuff, my stuff, everybody's stuff! Donations to use as competition prizes, to fuel the Monster Auctions From Hell, and to sell at the garage sale. We can't hold a three hour
auction for your listening and shopping pleasure if we don't have your items to sell back to you, can we now?
Remember, services as well as items make great auction donations. Dinners and such-like have been some of our most successful offerings! If you have any questions about whether a particular item would make a good donation, please contact the Supreme Commissar! Also contact her if you need to donate items before the event.

My Good Friends
Were you there? Did you witness the excitement and tension as we watched the final rounds of the Cynagua Coronet Lists? Were you a part of the Celebration that took place when our good friends, and former Lord and Lady of Golden Rivers; Marc de Arundel and Arianwen ferch Morgan, stood in the center of Cynagua's List field and were granted the title of Lord and Lady of the Swan? Once again, The Populace of Golden Rivers Can lift their collective heads up in pride as one of "our own" makes ready to wear the Coronet.
There are lots of other things happening this month! Arts and Sciences and Crown Tournament are right around the corner and right after is The Golden Rivers Rapier Championship and Collegium. So much to do! So much to see and experience ! For those of you attending Crown, please, make sure to stop in at Evenstar Keep and Visit our dear friend, Moira O' Connor, as she sits vigil Friday night, for her long awaited Pelican Ceremony, Understand, however, that with all the people who know and love her dropping in the line maybe a long one. I, for one am overjoyed for her .
Yours in friendship and Service
